About Me

I'm a mom of two grown children, a wife, and now author (!) who lives with my husband, Hank, in a little red house near the sea in Maine. A child of the 50s and 60s, I'm the oldest of the self-proclaimed four “Stunning Smith Sisters”. Although we were raised in Connecticut, some of our happiest childhood memories were made in Maine, at Wells Beach and Kennebunkport. A retired teacher of English and Special education, I attended Russell Sage College, U. Mass., and the University of Southern Maine. As the mother of a child with disabilities, I am active in politics and advocacy for people with special needs. I love to read, write, sew, travel, and meet new people. In honor of my dad, who could complete it in under an hour, I continue to frustrate myself weekly with the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle.
